After several years of planning, and with the generous help of many kind-hearted and committed Kent businesses, everyone can enjoy Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade at key locations in and around Maidstone town centre until the event finishes on 22 August 2021.

Heart of Kent Hospice has been overwhelmed by the generous support it has received from over 60 local businesses, without whom Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade would not have taken place this year.

Rachel Street, Interim Chief Executive at the Hospice said ‘It’s fantastic that this project was able to go ahead in a year when the Hospice is also celebrating its 30th anniversary. We want to thank our incredible Presenting Partner Westerhill Homes who have generously supported Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade from the outset. We also want to say thank you to all the businesses, particularly our Parade Partners and sculpture Sponsors, who have supported us to make this project happen and to help us raise vital funds for the Hospice this year.

“The level of engagement across not only the business community, but schools, community groups and the public has meant that the Parade App has been downloaded by 7,000 eager explores and 150,000 Elmer sculptures have already been collected.”

Ian Savage, CEO of Chartway Group said “Westerhill Homes is so proud to be the Official Presenting Partner for Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade. Bringing people together is at the heart of what we do, and this initiative is a wonderful way for people of all ages to get together and to explore public art across our beautiful County town.

“We are so pleased by the response so far and urge people to come and find the Elmers while they can!”

Official Auction Partner Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers will be instrumental in helping to raise funds when all the large Elmers are auctioned on 9 September 2021 at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel, Maidstone. The Hospice is hoping to raise in excess of £250,000 as the unique Elmers go under the hammer! To find out more about the auction visit www.elmermaidstone.co.uk/auction/

Another Kent business which has been vital to the project are the incredibly talented and hardworking civil engineering firm, Gallagher Group who, with their efficiency, impressive organisation and herculean efforts managed to put 50 large Elmers in place across Maidstone in just one afternoon and evening!

To help with the fundraising, Kent Family Farm Chegworth Valley, has launched a special edition Elmer’s Apple Juice which went on sale at the start of Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade. In support of Heart of Kent Hospice, 15p from every 1 litre bottle sold and 8p from every small bottle sold will be donated to the Hospice.

Other businesses that are supporting the Parade are: Scarbutts Printers, Maidstone Borough Council, Paydens Group, GeoBrand, Kent Messenger and One Maidstone.
